Last week I went to the Hello kitty unvailing event at the MAC Pro Store in San Francisco, CA. I arrived at the store at 6pm (my appointment was for 7pm). I was the first one in line and there were about 50 behind me. Before entering the store they checked your ID (alcohol was served) and checked to see if your name was on the RSVP list. I spent about 15 minutes swatching the products then I picked what I wanted and headed to the register. It took about 10 minutes for them to pull my products and another 10 minutes to check out. It was my first time attending a MAC event and I had a blast. I was a little nervous because I wasn't sure what to expect but everything went smoothly. The only thing that bothered me was the amount of people that were crammed into the store......an the fact that they only had 2 registers to check people out. After about an hour, the line to check out was crazy!!!!!! I am so glad I bought everything when I first got there. After making my purchase I walked around sipping my drink and chatting with the MA's. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. It surprised me that there wasn't a larger turnout for the SF store. I heard that it was super crazy at other MAC events. People were having to wait in line for 1+ hours to get into the store and then wait another 1+ hours to get to the register!! That's pure madness!!
Anyhow, here is my haul:
I told myself that I was on a "no buy" for a few weeks but I just couldn't help myself. I found out that the Nordstom Department Stores are coming out with an exclusive limited edition MAC collection called Colour Forms. Being that I am somewhat of a MAC newbie, I am a sucker for limited edition collections. While reading the MAC forums on my lunch break, I found out that Nordstom's is taking pre-orders for the collection. I quickly jumped at the chance to place an order. A lot of MAC addicts have been dissapointed with the recent collections because nothing really exciting is being released and most of them already have dupes of the new shadows and/or pigments. I on the other hand don't have a large MAC collection so everything looks new and exciting to me, especially the brushes!
Here is what I am getting:
The Advanced Brush Set. Contains the 187, 168, 275, 219, 212. $49.50
The Basic Brush Set. Contains the 129, 190, 224, 242, 266. $49.50
The Warm Eyes Palette. $38
The Cool Lips Palette. $22.50
Face Powder in "Sun Centered" ("Play around Pink" is shown below). $24.50
Pigments in "Gilded Green", "Royal Flush" (shown below), and "Circa Plum". $19.50 each
Lipstick in "Pop Circle"(shown below), and "Rose Go Round". $14.00
Richmetal Highlighter in "Female" (Rose Bullion is shown below). $16.50
I have to admit, I am such a brush whore. I don't know what it is about makeup brushes that facinates me but I must keep buying brushes!! The collection won't ship until mid July but I am so excited. I will take pictures and do swatched once I receive it. I think this is the most "damage" i've done since I started buying makeup last December. YIKES!!
I went to MAC on Thursday (when Heatherette was released) and purchased a couple of items. I was very dissapointed with the Lipsticks and Lipglosses. All of them looked horrid on me...except for Starlett Kiss. I really tried to make them work but they just didn't look good on my lips. Oh well. Maybe they'll have better lippies in the next collection.
Trio#1
Trio#2
Pink Pearl Pigment
Starlet Kiss Lipgloss
Other Items purchases at MAC:
My Back to Mac Items and False Eyelashes
Eyeshadows: Coppering and Cranberry
False Eyelashes #3

Strawbaby Lipstick

Eyeshadow Quad
This is my brush collection. I don't use all of these brushes but I'm addicted to buying brushes just like I'm addicted to buying makeup! Brushes are an essential tool in the makeup application so you can never have to many brushes.
This a a "Sephora Inspired" brush holder. I got the idea from EnKore Makeup on YouTube. It's a great way to keep your brushes organized. I bought the filler from Michael's Crafts and I bought the small holders from Target. They are originally meant to be used as candle holders but they are a perfect fit for my brushes.
Too Faced Kabooki Brush
My MAC brushes (187, 252, 224)
Essence of Beauty Brushes. Found at CVS Pharmacy. I use these more then the MAC brushes.
Lowe Cornell Art Brushes. Found at Michael's Craft Store. These are considered "MAC Alternatives". These were suggested by EnKore Makeup on YouTube.
Sephora Travel Brush Kit
Mary Kay Travel Brush Kit and Kabooki Brush

15 Eyeshadow Pans to go in the palette
Shadesticks
Mineralized Skin Finish "Warmed"

I never imagined my self being addicted to makeup but somehow over the past couple of months I have become completely obsessed. I recently found out that MAC releases several limited edition collections every year and I was amazed at how popular these collections are. People wait patiently for the release and then they rush to the store to buy their favorites. What amazes me even more is that people who I fondly call collector's. Not only do they buy the whole collection, but they buy several "back ups" in case they run out of their favorite limited edition product. They basically blow hundreds of dollars all at once. I would probably do the same thing but I am learning to buy the products that I like instead of just buying things because they are limited edition. When Fafi was released, I gave myself a $150 budget and when I got to the register my total came to $151. I'm doing the same for the Heatherette Collection. I already know what I want and I am just hoping that I won't like anything else because it will push me over the $150 mark!! The only collection that I completely splurged on is the Barbie Loves MAC collection. I missed out on that collection so I spent a pretty penny getting the items that I wanted off of ebay. It was worth it! MAC is expensive but it's fun! I love the release parties & makeovers and I enjoy going into the store on the weekends to chat with my favorite MA. I am looking forward to participating in all of the collection frenzy in the future.
I had originally been told by a MAC MA that Fafi wasn't going to be released until Thursday, 2/14 but I was reading through several forums online and people were saying that it was being released today (2/13). I decided to give my local MAC store a call this morning and to my surprise and excitment, Fafi was released today. I didn't even wait for my lunch break. I asked my boss if I could take an early lunch and I headed to the mall.
I wasn't worried about the makeup selling out but I was worried about the scarfs....they are already sold out online! My store said that they only recieved 15 scarfs and they had already sold half of them (and it's only 11:45am). I gave myself a $150 limit and the total damage was $151.51. I wanted to get the 217 brush and 219 brush but those can wait.
I was the only customer in the store so I spent about 20 minutes playing the all of the Fafi products.
My Haul:
Fafi Scarf
1 Fafi Doll
"Fashion Frenzy" Blush
Eyeshadow Quad #2
Bold as Gold e/s
Shockwave e/s
You're Fresh e/s
Prankster e/s
"Rollickin'" Paint Pot (my MA said this one is going to sell fast!)
"Nice Vice" Paint Pot
"Totally It" Lipglass
"Most Wanted" Slimshine Lipstick (this is not part of the Fafi line but I love the color and the MA told me that the slimshine lipstick are like gloss and lipstick all in one).
I was originally going to place my order online but I am new to MAC (and makeup) so I like to test everything on myself first to make sure I like the color. Thank goodness I did because I didn't end up liking any of the lipsticks and I only liked 1 lipglass (I had planned to buy 3 lipglasses). I also wasn't sure if I could pull of wearing the pink blush but it ended up looking really good on me.
The Fafi bags are cute also but I couldn't justify buying one because I have so many bags already (and it would have tacked on another $25 to my bill :). I may change my mind later!
I don't have any pics yet because I am still at work.
Anyhow, can't wait to here what some of you girls purchased!
