Last week I went to the Hello kitty unvailing event at the MAC Pro Store in San Francisco, CA.  I arrived at the store at 6pm (my appointment was for 7pm).  I was the first one in line and there were about 50 behind me.  Before entering the store they checked your ID (alcohol was served) and checked to see if your name was on the RSVP list.  I spent about 15 minutes swatching the products then I picked what I wanted and headed to the register.  It took about 10 minutes for them to pull my products and another 10 minutes to check out.  It was my first time attending a MAC event and I had a blast.  I was a little nervous because I wasn't sure what to expect but everything went smoothly.  The only thing that bothered me was the amount of people that were crammed into the store......an the fact that they only had 2 registers to check people out.  After about an hour, the line to check out was crazy!!!!!!  I am so glad I bought everything when I first got there.  After making my purchase I walked around sipping my drink and chatting with the MA's.  Overall it was an enjoyable experience.  It surprised me that there wasn't a larger turnout for the SF store.  I heard that it was super crazy at other MAC events.  People were having to wait in line for 1+ hours to get into the store and then wait another 1+ hours to get to the register!!  That's pure madness!!

Feels like I haven't blogged in months.  The last blog that I wrote was last month right before I moved back to California.  I've been back in California for about month and I couldn't be happier.  I decided to enjoy my first couple of weeks so I spent most of my time going to lunch/dinner with friends and shopping in San Francisco.  This past month has been an absolute blast and I am so happy that I was able to move back home.  I don't miss Louisiana one bit!!  So anyway, this blog is just an update on me and my current situation.  I will be bloggin more often now that I am settled.

Update:

1. My father has completely recovered from the Pneumonia that he had last month.  He still has the growth in his esophogus and although they have determined that it's not cancer.  It still has to be removed.  For some reason the Doctor is afraid to remove it so they are giving him a medication that they hope will shrink the mass so that it will be easier to remove.  He had to be admitted to the hospital last week so that they could "install" a feeding tube.  He's back at home now but he's still very weak because he hasn't been able to eat in over a month.  He get's all of his nutrients from a feeding tube in his stomach.  He's not happy about the set up but he doesn't have a choice.  If the medication doesn't shrink the mass, he will have to have surgery to remove it meaning that they would have to take most if not all of his esophogus.  It's a very dangerous surgery and 50% of the patients who have it end up having a major complication at some point after the surgery.  We are hoping and praying that the medication shrinks the mass so they he won't have to have a major surger.
2. I am finally settled and all moved into my parents house.  I don't plan on being here long but I didn't think that it would be a good idea to move directly into an apartment, especially since I don't have a job yet.  Living with my parents again is hard!!  I have lived alone for the past 2 years and having to move back in with them is turning out to be a challenge.  One of the hardest things to deal with is all of my mother's junk. She is a huge pack rat!!! Her crap is everyone.....in every closet, on over shelf, in every cabinet.....etc.  When I first moved back in, I spent a whole week moving her crap out of my room.  I tend to be very clean and organized so living in an unorganized house is driving me nuts.  So I have decided to just stay in my room while i'm at home....that way I don't have to look at the rest of the mess.  I went to IKEA (I love that store) and bought a desk so that I could organize my makeup and have a space to sit my laptop.  I haven't put it together yet but when I do, I will take a pick and show you guy's how I organized everything. 
3. I have been job hunting like crazy over the past couple of weeks and it SUCKS.  The job market is Soooooooo bad right now.  Jobs (especially administrative jobs) are very competitive.  There are a lot of people out of work right now so tons of people are applying for the same job that I am.  It's discouraging when I get e-mails and/or phone calls stating that I didn't get the job.  I ended up signing up for a temp agency 2 weeks ago and even they didn't have any assignments for me.  The economy is jacking everything up!  I was finally offered a job a week ago and I accepted it (even though I wasn't 100% comfortable with the job itself).  I have only been working there a week and I already hate it.  I work for a tax firm and being that I don't know anything about taxes, tax law, and tax terms/definitions, I feel like a complete idiot most of the time.  I usually pick up on things very quickly but this shit is killing me!!!! I feel like i'm learning a foreign language.  I'm trying to give it some time but I honestly don't think that this is going to work out.  Another things that bothers me is the fact that I won't get benefits for 6 months and vacation for a year.  I'm also not getting paid what I asked.  Honestly, they should have hired someone with previous tax experience.   Overall, it's just not worth it.  
4. I have been hauling like crazy!  I can't wait to show you guy's some of the things that I have purchased from MAC, Sephora, and some online mineral makeup companies.  I am going to be doing "Haul of the Week" blog posts to showcase some of the items that I have purchased recently.  I am also going to start doing reviews of products as well as makeup tips (how I clean my brushes, storage ideas, etc.).  I can't wait to get started.  Once I get my room set up and organized, I am going to start blogging like crazy.  Oh and I will also start doing some FOTD's...those are fun!  I haven't been wearing makeup that often so I feel like i've lost my touch.  I need to start practicing again.
5. My sister is a representative for a local makeup company and she told my parents last night that she could get me a job (18 hours a week) for $25 selling this makeup at Macy's and Nordstrom's.  I don't know much info about the job yet but I'm thinking about taking it, especially if it means I can get free makeup (or at least a discount on makeup!).  My sister is a flake though and she never comes through on her promises so I don't have much hope for this job.  I'm still going to check on it though.
6. I'm still rockin' the iPhone.  It's the most AWESOME phone ever!  

So that basically it.  My life wrapped up in a nut shell.  I'm just living day to day trying to get by.  I'm hoping and praying that over the next couple of weeks, I will find a job that suits me and fits my needs.  I hope that all of my voxxy gals are doing well.

That past couple of weeks have been the most stressful weeks that I have ever experienced.  Kaiser decided that they didn't want to pay for my dad to remain here in Louisiana so they sent a private jet to pick him up at the hospital here and transport him back to the hospital in CA.  I knew this would happen but I wasn't prepared for it to happen so quickly.  So now he's back in CA (so are my mother and grandmother) and he is slowly getting better.  They say that his case is very unique and they have been doing tests like crazy to find out what the growth is.  His file has been sent to a panel of doctor's and surgeons for review and we are hoping that at least one of them will come up with a way to solve my dad's problem. 

When my dad got sick, I knew that my moving plans would change because we would no longer be able to drive the RV back and therefore I would have no way to get my stuff back.  My parents assured me that everything would work out but I felt like I was doomed.  I ended up calling a friend in CA and asking him if he would be willing to fly to Louisiana and help me drive back.  He agreed so I immediately went online and purchased his ticket.  Over the next couple days he started coming up with excuses and eventually he backed out completely.  I think he realized that this wasn't going to be a vacation.  It was going to be a long and boring 32 hour drive across the country!  I guess it didn't sound so appealing after he had time to think about it. 

So naturally I started to panick because there was no way that I could make the drive by myself and I couldn't find anyone who could help me (everyone either works or is in school).  Anyhow, I started doing some research online and I found that I could ship my car and my belongings for the same price it would have cost me to drive.  The car transport picked my car up on Friday and I packed my POD today and it's going out tonight.  Both are scheduled to arrive at my parents house on Friday the 22nd.  I am also scheduled to fly to CA on Friday so I am hoping to arrive before my stuff does.  I am SUPER tired from packing, loading the UHAUL, unloading the UHAUL and loading the POD, then returning the UHAUL.   Now I just have to wait until Friday to fly back home.  I can't wait!

I am so tired right now but I can't sleep.  Maybe after I eat a hot meal and take a steaming hot show, i'll get sleepy.

After numerous tests the Doctors have come to the conclusion that my dad does NOT have cancer.....WOOT WOOT!!!  He had a stint put in his airway on Sunday to block the hole that was allowing food to spill into his lungs so now he is able to eat and drink.  He is slowly regaining his strenth.  The Docs in Cali are embarrassed because they should have found the problems weeks ago so they quickly approved any and all procedures that need to be done here (they better have because our family lawyer was ready to rip a hole in them if they denied our request!!).  Now that they have established that there is no cancer, they can finally do the 2nd surgery.  We are hoping that they will do the 2nd surgery sometime this week so that he can start the recovery & rehabilitation process.  He has a team of 4 Doctor's and 6 nurses and they are are fabulous.  They have taken such good care of him.  So things are looking on the up and up.  Now we just have to get through the next couple of weeks.

I've still been reading everyone's blog but I haven't had time to comment since I'm using my phone to access the internet.  I just found out that the hospital has wireless access, YIPPEEEE!!, so now I can play around on the internet while I'm keep my dad company.

My dad has only been here (in Louisiana) for 2 weeks and now he's in the hospital.  He was having some problems before he left California but the doctors (at KAISER PERMANENTE!!!) said that he was ok and nothing was wrong so he went ahead and flew down here.  Well about a week after he arrived, he started having coughing fits which caused him to gasp for air.  This lasted a couple of days and eventually he wasn't able to talk, eat, or drink without coughing everything up.  My mother flew in on Wednesday night and after staying up with my dad all night (he coughed for 6 hours straight), she took him to the emergency room.

It turns out he has Pneumonia and it was caused by a growth in his throat that allowed food to get into his lungs.  Ummmmm, why didn't the Docs at Kaiser see this "growth" when they did 4 endoscopy procedures last month!!!!  In the last 24 hours he has gotten better care then in the 2 months he spent going to Kaiser Doctors.  WTF!!!!  Anyhow, they admitted him last night and he will probably be there for a couple of days.  Our main concern right now is the growth in his throat.  They did a biopsy and we are waiting to find out if it's cancer or not.  I pray it's not.  The past couple of days have been so draining.  I'm sitting here at work about to fall asleep at my desk.  Thank God it's Friday because I don't know if I could make it another day.

I went shopping yesterday to take my mind of things.  I ended up at MAC (as always) and I spent some time playing with the new Starflash collection.  I bought a couple of things and I will post about it over the weekend.

Ok, i'm am NEVER going to be able to save any money!  MAC has been releasing new collections like crazy and it doesn't look like they are going to be slowing down anytime soon.  Check out this new collection that is due to be released on October 9th.  It's called the Manish Arora collection and I want ALL OF IT!!!  I'll back in California by then so i'll have to be at the MAC store when it opens so that I can get everything.  I have been spoiled here in Louisiana because the demand for MAC isn't that high so they hardly ever sell out of items when new collections are released. 

I have decided that I will only purchase limited edition items from now on.  That way I can focus on some other brands that I want to try.  MAC is still my favorite (because it's one of the few brands that i'm not alergic to) but there are tons of brands out there that have some wonderful products!

It has been super crazy here at work.  A lot of my coworker's are unhappy so they are searching for other jobs.  My boss quit a couple of weeks ago and my supervisor turned in her letter of resignation today.  Her last day will be August 1st.  There are only 5 people in my department (plus a receptionist).......2 are new hires and 1 is leaving so that leaves myself and my coworker Kim.  I feel bad because we are the only 2 people who know how to run this department and come August 4th, I will also be turning in my letter of resignation so Kim will be left to run the dept. all by herself.  I really don't feel good about that.  I know that there is nothing that can be done about it but I worry that she will get overwhelmed by all the work.  I am hoping they will hire some people before I leave so that I can train them but HR is extremelly slow so I doubt that will happen.

Oh well.  So as I mentioned above, I will be resigning on August 4th.  I am scheduled to leave for California on August 20th so I decided to give them 2 weeks notice.  Time has been flying by so fast! My mother, younger brother, and grandmother are flying down next Wednesday and I am so excited.  I missed my family so much!  My dad is already here and it's been great having someone in the house with me.  I hated being in the huge house all by myself. 

I am a little stressed about the move because I don't have a lot of money so upon my arrival back in the Bay Area, I will need to find a job ASAP!!  Thankfully my parents are paying for the gas (we're driving back) so that a major thing that I don't have to worry about.  Hopefully I will be able to save a litte $$ from the next 2 paychecks, otherwise i'm screwed!  I have to admit, I've been spending money on makeup.  I can't help myself......it has become a vice for me, especially since moving here to the south.  Shopping makes me feel better!!  I have some stuff coming in from MAC and Sephora and after that, I am on a serious NO BUY.  It will take everything in me to stop buying things.  It will damn near kill me because MAC is releasing more collections this month and next month....DAMMIT!!  It seems like they release one every 2 weeks!

Anyhow, I'm just happy that I am moving back home, even it it means going back completely broke!
